The Focal Alpha series includes active nearfield monitor speakers designed specifically for studio work. These are full-size 2.0 format models with a front bass reflex port, a wide frequency range, and a flat frequency response, making them suitable for both recording and precise mixing. According to the manufacturer, the series is ideal for home studios, sound designers, composers, and anyone who values hearing the mix accurately without embellishment but with sufficient detail and depth.

The series includes models from two generations: the original Alpha and the more advanced Alpha EVO. The first are built on Class AB amplifiers and equipped with Polyglass cone drivers — lightweight fiberglass covered with a polymer that improves the rigidity of the structure and reduces distortion. The EVO models use Class D amplifiers and proprietary Slatefiber cone drivers — a composite of carbon fibers in a thermoplastic matrix, characterized by high rigidity and damping. This design better controls resonances and allows for a deeper and tighter bass response.
Depending on the size of the cone driver, the power output ranges from 105 to 230 watts. Models with 5-inch cone drivers are more suitable for compact spaces, while heavier options with 8-inch drivers will fit well in studios with quality soundproofing to prevent excessive bass roaming. The enclosure is typically made from dense 15-millimeter MDF, which according to the manufacturer, has been optimized for nearfield work. Additionally, the rear panel features filters for fine-tuning to the room, frequency regulators, and input sensitivity switches.
