A tiny camera in a pocket form factor with an impressive 30x optical zoom. Translated into the equivalent of a full frame, shooting with the camera is carried out in the focal length range of 24-720 mm, which covers most subject lines from the genre of interior photography to long-range photo hunting at a considerable distance from the target. The model has a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with optical stabilization, which is designed to compensate for the relatively low floating aperture of the optics (f/3.5-6.4).

Inside the Sony HX99 there is an 18 MP image sensor with physical dimensions of 1/2.3" - a typical solution for most compacts. The maximum sensitivity value for the matrix reaches 6400 ISO. When shooting serial photos, the camera reaches a speed of up to 10 fps, while the buffer fits over one and a half hundreds of pictures in JPEG format. The model has a retractable viewfinder, a 3-inch touch screen on a rotating hinge, and a full range of wireless communications (including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an NFC chip for quick pairing with a smartphone). 4K (3840x2160 pixels) at 30 fps.
