From the manufacturer's press release:
"Berlin, February 25, 2006 – If you're looking for creative freedom in photography, you'll be thrilled with two new Cyber-shot cameras from Sony. Zoom in with these super-zoom lenses, featuring revolutionary Double 'Anti-Blur' technology that significantly Reduces motion blur and enhances your photos, recently pioneered in the ultra-compact Cyber-shot T9.
The 1/2.5-inch Sony Super HAD CCD sensors at the centre of these cameras ensure that images are always bright and sharp. The Cyber-shot H5 has a CCD sensor with an effective resolution of 7.2 Megapixel, while the Cyber-shot H2 model has 6.0 Megapixel. Along with the grandiose precision 12x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optical zoom lens, both cameras also feature a 24x precision digital zoom lens and an intelligent zoom lens (52x VGA on the Cyber-shot H2 and 57x on the Cyber-shot H5). The Vario-Tessar lens has a zoom range of 36-432mm (35mm film equivalent) at f2.8-3.7 while still allowing macro shots as close as 2cm away. For added rigidity, these cameras feature an aluminium frame lens, and to make shooting even more versatile, the use of a powerful zoom lens is possible even when shooting movies in MPEG VX Fine mode.
Sony's Real Imaging Processor delivers sharp images, true-to-life colours, extremely fast camera performance and long battery life - up to 400 shots* on a single charge of the supplied Ni-MH batteries.
Both models offer full manual exposure control for those who are creative with photography, as well as automatic modes for quick shooting and ease of use. Shooting any scenes has never given such wonderful results.
Double 'Anti-Blur'
With the Double 'Anti-Blur' technology featured on the Cyber-shot H5 and H2, you can confidently shoot in challenging environments such as low light, reducing the risk of hand-shake blurring. The combination of image stabilization technology and high sensitivity allows you to shoot without a flash. The image is as sharp as a flash, but much more naturally lit. In addition, you can be sure that the blurring of the image of moving objects that are difficult to shoot will be minimal.
The Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization system automatically compensates for hand-shake and vibration, ensuring digital images remain sharp. Unwanted camera movements are measured and processed, after which the position of the optical element of the lens is corrected to compensate for vibrations, which is especially important when shooting with a 12x optical zoom lens at the telephoto end. Sony engineers have designed this system so that it can optimize the frequency of vibration that occurs when you hold the camera in your hands and reduce this effect on the resulting image. It can be effectively used in artistic shooting with slow shutter speeds or a closed aperture, and even in MPEG VX Fine video mode. In addition, the new 2-second self-timer mode also reduces camera shake when you press the shutter button.
Image blur is reduced by the High Sensitivity technology found on both cameras. This technology allows you to get sharper images of moving subjects as well as stationary subjects when shooting on the move (for example, when you are in a car) - which is not possible with image stabilizer alone. Traditionally, high sensitivity leads to increased interference, but the use of the new Clear RAW NR noise reduction significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Sony's original Clear RAW NR algorithm system reduces chrominance and luminance noise, allowing you to shoot at much higher sensitivities (up to ISO1000). As a result, object images have fewer defects and are better developed. The efficiency is especially great when shooting in low light. You can shoot in the most difficult shooting conditions knowing that the result will always be amazing."
