One of the top high-capacity M.2 SSDs in 2020. It is positioned as a premium product designed for enthusiasts, top-of-the-line gaming configurations and mid-range / high-end workstations. It features support for the progressive fourth version of the PCIe x4 system interface, which guarantees a twofold increase in data exchange speed (compared to the previous Gen3 standard). The Gigabyte AORUS Gen4 SSD GP-AG41TB SSD is capable of providing the highest sequential read/write speed (5000/4400 Mbps) and minimal latency.
The top model of the 2-core Phison PS5016-E16 controller, capable of simultaneously working with eight data streams and equipped with high-speed DDR4 buffer memory, became the hardware basis of the device. To store user data, the manufacturer used Toshiba's high-tech 96-layer 256-Gb BiCS4 3D TLC NAND flash memory. Equipped with a small but efficient heat spreader. Supports SLC caching that speeds up write times, wear leveling technology, advanced hardware LDPC error correction, flexible power management, and SMART and TRIM technologies.

This is, of course, not a fully-fledged PCIe 4.0 level drive. It has a standard, affordable E16 controller, with all its drawbacks. The claimed speeds will be maintained only as long as the disk is filling in 1-bit mode. It's a great option for games, to use the technologies claimed for PCIe 4.0 from AMD, but not much more than that. The model is not very suitable for transferring large volumes back and forth. If using more than 80-85% of the disk's capacity, it's better to look at other options, such as those from WD or Samsung, although they are considerably more expensive.
