A full-format ATX motherboard with a reliable power system and well-balanced technical capabilities. It is positioned at the intersection of the mid-range and high-end price segments and is part of the 2025 Gigabyte Aorus Elite lineup. Designed for users who want to build a modern and not too expensive gaming system with a Ryzen processor of the latest or second-to-last generation.

The AM5 socket ensures compatibility with Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors. The digital Twin VRM power system for the processor is rated at 12+2+2 phases, with power modules designed for 60A. This is mostly a mid-level solution suitable for Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processors; for high-end Ryzen 9 with aggressive PBO, the manufacturer recommends choosing higher-level boards with the X series chipset and more powerful power supply.

The Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2 supports DDR5 RAM up to 192 GB. The maximum memory frequency can reach up to 8000 MHz when overclocked, and support for AMD EXPO technology helps automatically set optimal parameters without manual adjustments. The storage subsystem includes four classic SATA3 ports and three M.2 slots (one Gen5, two others Gen4). They all feature M.2 Thermal Guard heatsinks that reduce the risk of overheating and protect drives from throttling.

For installing a graphics card, a modern PCIe 5.0 slot is used, reinforced with fiber armor for added strength. Network functions are provided through a 2.5-gigabit controller with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support. Among the additional features are EZ-Latch Plus fasteners, Smart Fan 6 fan management system, and Q-Flash firmware update technology, which does not require system bootup.

How to choose a motherboard?Motherboard is the main part of any computer. Here's how to choose the right one for work, play and entertainment
Model overview based on user reviews
The Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2 motherboard is a robust and well-constructed option for gamers and enthusiasts looking for a reliable platform for future upgrades. It features a powerful VRM capable of handling high-end processors, making it suitable for overclocking. Users appreciate the ample USB ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, along with the convenient tool-free SSD mounting. The motherboard includes well-designed SSD heatsinks and a user-friendly UEFI BIOS, enhancing the overall user experience. However, some users noted issues with the BIOS fan control and the Gigabyte Control Center interface. Despite these minor drawbacks, the motherboard offers a balanced combination of quality, functionality, and price, making it a recommended choice for those seeking a mid-range AM5 motherboard.

Completely normal full-fledged mother for future processor upgrade

Disappointed after the B550 PRO v2, now I can't connect the lower fans to the GPU temperature sensor because it's only possible to select those on the motherboard. The B550 PRO v2 had an issue with the SSD heatsink being higher, or the thermal pads were not the right thickness, so it didn't make proper contact. Here everything is fine, it fits as it should.
Sturdy, quality feels good in hand, put on some weight
More radiators, thicker, serious
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, external antenna
Side Sata, USB 3.0 on the front panel
CMOS battery accessible
Well-made SSD heatsinks, compared to b550, proper pressure
Beautiful, pleasant, and convenient UEFI
Enough USB ports, and various others
Tool-free SSD mounting with a convenient lever
Serious rear socket and cooling mounting plate
Powerful power subsystem, can handle any processor for upgrade
Functional software, everything in one place, everything you need can be customized
At the time of the review, the BIOS F32 does not have fan association with the video card temperature sensor.
The video card blocks the SATA connectors, making it hard to connect them blindly.
When turning on the PC, it spins the fans at maximum speed, unclear why.
Gigabyte Control Center is mediocre, hasn't changed with AM4, inconvenient interface, especially the fan graphs. SIV was better.

Optimal choice among AM5 motherboards
The selection took me quite a bit of time: so many nuances, reviews, and charts to go through. But I think I made the right choice. The VRM here is decent, even with a bit of headroom for high-end processors. I have a Ryzen 7 9700X, and this motherboard handles it without any issues.

Another big plus is that the network card isn't on the Intel chipset 225-V. Anyone who's dealt with Intel network cards knows how they can disconnect or lag. No such problems here. There's Wi-Fi, and it's convenient not having cable coils lying around the house.

Heatsinks for all SSD slots included – that's a nice bonus. The board itself is well-made, nothing excessive, everything in its place. The sound is built-in, rather average, but it's not critical for me since I use an external sound card. In tests, this motherboard doesn't overheat even with the 7950X, and what more do you need for stable operation?

I was also considering the Steel Legend and was ready to buy it, but they sold out, and now I don’t even regret it. The BIOS in the Gigabyte is really more convenient, working with it is a pleasure. Overall, this is an excellent option for those looking for a balance between quality, functionality, and price.
One common antenna. It was cooler when there were two.
