I am very satisfied, very competent sound for its size and price. This is an honest Chinese company with its own developments and a good acoustic laboratory. Clear, detailed, transparent sound, spaciousness, stereo panorama, localization of sound sources in space, flat frequency response, absence of amplifier noise, quality of assembly, materials and components, very pleasing appearance, price. I was choosing between the Edifier MR4 and their main competitor in popularity and price, the PreSonus Eris E3.5. I got them to replace a 5.1 system with a large subwoofer, so I was already prepared for the fact that I would find the bass lacking (spoiler: I was right). After reading dozens of threads on Reddit and familiarizing myself with numerous pages on audiophile forums, I ultimately decided to go with the Edifiers. In short: these are monitors (they position themselves not as multimedia speakers) of the very entry-level. They sound quite good for their price (for the sound, I would add 20% of the cost), have sufficient volume reserve, and have two modes: multimedia (green) and monitor (red). Personally, I couldn't hear a big difference between these modes, but someone with a more trained ear would definitely notice it. For less than $100, this pair sounds simply wonderful and is perfect for a vinyl player. But keep in mind that for quality listening, it is highly desirable to be located directly nearby, even better — directly in front of them (close sound field). For me, as someone who was spoiled by a subwoofer from multimedia speakers with THX certification, I still find the bass lacking, but! These monitors are about nuances and listening to them, not about thumping bass. So, ask yourself: do you need multimedia speakers, or do you want monitors even if they are very entry-level?
