Canon PowerShot A620

Canon announces the launch of the new Canon PowerShot A620 high performance compact digital camera. The 7.1 megapixel camera is equipped with advanced technology typically found in PowerShot G-series cameras. The DIGIC II processor delivers high speed, fast response, and high image quality with 4x optical zoom. A wide variety of manual and automatic shooting modes, as well as special shooting modes, provide wide and flexible features for creative expression.

In addition, the camera is equipped with a 2-inch vari-angle LCD screen, supports the My Colours function and a macro mode that allows you to shoot objects at a distance of up to 1 cm. The camera can record video clips in VGA format at a speed of 30 frames /with. Shooting options are further enhanced with optional accessories such as a wide-angle and tele-converter and a waterproof case. The camera comes with universal software. The PowerShot A620 is equipped with a Print/Share button and supports PictBridge, ID Photo Print and Movie Print¹. The camera uses a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface for fast image transfer.

High resolution, large zoom and excellent image quality

The new model significantly outperforms its predecessor, the popular PowerShot A95. The A620 has a 7.1-megapixel sensor, which allows you to take high-quality pictures with good detail for printing up to A3 size, as well as change the image format without compromising print quality.

Canon's high-precision lens is reminiscent of the shape and design of the G-series lenses. It also consists of 8 elements in seven groups and two aspherical elements. The new 4x zoom allows you to work at a focal length of 35-140mm (35mm film equivalent). A maximum aperture of f/2.8 (W) to f/4.1 (T) provides a high level of brightness when used at telephoto. In addition, focus in low light has been improved by two stops, which greatly enhances the possibilities of shooting in the dark.

The spectral characteristics of the lens have been improved taking into account the compatibility of the lens and the sensor. This ensures accurate colour reproduction and reduces chromatic aberrations (such as purple halos) that often occur with lower quality lenses.

Improved focus and image processing

The installation of Canon's advanced DIGIC II processor has made the camera faster and more responsive, as well as improving image quality. The time required to focus has been reduced by 60%, and the shutter lag is now as low as 0.1s. Smooth continuous shooting is now possible at approx. 1.9 frames per second. Due to the DIGIC II processor's highly accurate white balance estimation, colour accuracy is greatly improved.

The new PowerShot model continues to support Canon's 9-point Intelligent AF system, which ensures fast and accurate focus on the subject (even when the subject is off centre of the frame). Flexison AF/AE control allows you to freely scroll the image within the AF area of the frame, looking for a subject that has been set to the correct exposure settings. The camera also has a manual focus function.

The large 2-inch LCD screen gives you more options for shooting at odd angles, such as ground level, waist level, overhead, and self-portraits. The grid display function on the screen helps to correctly determine the composition and position of the sky line.

The Canon PowerShot A620 offers 20 shooting modes, including a full manual mode, a custom mode that lets you prioritize certain shooting settings, and a shutter-priority mode that can vary shutter speeds from 15 seconds to 1/2500 second. Eight special modes, such as Night Photo, Snow and Underwater, allow you to improve the image quality of pictures taken in certain situations. Shooting in Stitch Assist mode results in higher image quality photos that can be stitched together using the included PhotoStitch software to create panoramic shots. The My Colours function, activated via the mode button, further expands the possibilities for creative expression in digital photography. With sub-modes such as Colour Swap or Custom Colour, you can choose any colour for a particular picture. The colours of photos and videos can be adjusted directly in the camera and viewed on the LCD screen while shooting. Previously, these functions were only available when processing captured photos on a computer.

VGA (30/15 fps), QVGA (30/15 fps), high frame rate mode (for slow motion playback of the video clip in the camera) and low resolution recording mode (perfect for broadcasting) are supported for recording high-quality video clips. video clips by email).

Advanced accessories

A full range of optional accessories expands the camera's capabilities. A new LA-DC58F converter adapter has been developed specially for this model.
