High-quality gaming monitor with 31.5-inch curved screen, high frame rate (144Hz), HDR10 support and built-in stereo speakers (2x2W). The manufacturer is positioned as a product of the top colour category of 2019, designed for both casual gamers and professional e-sportsmen. The main feature of this model is the curvature of the screen, the radius of which is 1800 mm. This geometry effectively compensates for optical distortions that are noticeable on flat screens of large diagonals due to the imperfection of human vision.
The Asus TUF Gaming VG32VQ monitor screen is based on a high-quality VA-matrix (screen size 697x392 mm) with a resolution of 2560x1440 and Flicker-Free backlighting on white W-LEDs. ELMB anti-blur technology reduces response time to 1ms (MPRT) and can operate concurrently with adaptive timing. Faster screen refresh rates and support for AMD FreeSync Premium technology deliver crisp, clear images even during the most dynamic moments of gameplay. With support for HDR10 technology, the monitor improves image detail in shadows and highlights. The advantages also include an increased static contrast ratio (3000:1) and excellent vertical and horizontal viewing angles. Removable stand allows you to adjust the most convenient position of the screen.
Gaming monitor without unnecessary tinsel
Asus' gaming monitor range is dominated by members of the ROG Strix family. These are usually fancy monitors with expensive matrices, backlight synchronization and a bunch of other gaming features. But as demand shows, not all gamers need tinsel and illumination. It is for such users that the TUF series monitors updated in 2019 are designed.
Radius of curvature 1800R
Like, for example, the hero of this review, the 32-inch Asus VG32VQ with a curved screen, thin side bezels and HDR support. The monitor is based on a curved VA-matrix with Quad HD resolution (2560x1440 pixels) and a curvature radius of 1800R. Given the positioning of the device, the display has an increased refresh rate of 144 Hz, a response time of 4 ms (1 ms with MPRT technology) and supports FreeSync Premium synchronization technology, which prevents so-called frame tearing in dynamics. In general, the monitor shows a cool image with an impressive margin of brightness, high contrast and rich colours. There are yellowish tints traditional for VA matrices at the corners, but they are barely noticeable. Especially for gamers, there is a set of ASUS GamePlus software that allows you to turn on the timer, FPS counter, fix the crosshairs of the sight or highlight especially dark areas of the Shadow Boost image.
When comfort is more important than appearance
The Asus TUF Gaming VG32VQ is made mostly of black matte plastic and uses the "frameless" design that has long become familiar. The massive trapezoidal stand has a metal base and looks, although not very fashionable, but handles with its task perfectly. Despite the massive dimensions, the monitor stands on the table like a glove. In addition, the stand is height, swivel and tilt adjustable. In terms of design, the monitor looks rustic, and its gaming positioning is given out only by a backdrop decorated with patterns similar to starship drawings. Of the additional features, only a couple of additional speakers can be noted. As mentioned earlier, you should not look for any RGB backlights, USB hubs and exotic design delights here.
