Created using the 7nm process technology, the Ryzen 9 Matisse line model, at the time of its official debut in the summer of 2019, took its well-deserved place as the flagship among AMD's desktop processors. The CPU, compatible with mainstream AM4 custom motherboards, is an advanced solution for creating both gaming and workstations ready to interact with resource-intensive applications.
The AMD 3950X BOX processor received 16 cores and, thanks to multithreading support, is capable of processing up to 32 command streams simultaneously. The base clock frequency is 3.5 GHz, and with increasing loads it automatically increases by more than 30% to 4.7 GHz. Additional potential for overclocking leaves the presence of a free multiplier. The performance of the CPU is facilitated by a huge supply of cache memory (64 MB of the third level). The heat dissipation of the model corresponds to the top performance and is equal to 105 watts. The package includes a Wraith Prism cooler for heat dissipation.

First mass-produced 16-core processor
The 3950X processor with 16 cores and 32 threads belongs to the advanced Ryzen 9 Matisse line, in which AMD has embodied its best practices. In addition to the fact that this is one of the most powerful processors on the market, it is also attractive because it runs on a standard AM4 socket, and not expensive TR4, which was used by the previous generation of record-breaking AMD Threadripper "stones".
Long live the king!
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is multi-threaded and has a total of 72MB of cache at all levels. The base frequency is 3.5 GHz, the maximum is 4.7 GHz. The TDP level is acceptable for such a giant - 105 watts. In terms of dry performance, it is in many ways superior to the fresh top-end 12-core Core i9-9920X. On the AMD side, there is a more modern process technology, more cores, more cache, support for high-speed memory and almost the same clock speeds. Last but not least, the new architecture has allowed AMD to make the processor omnivorous and almost universally high-performance: it excels in almost any kind of workload, whether it's rendering, audio production or video games. The latter is especially cool, because in games, Intel processors have always been ahead.
Asking price is only $750
Well, and most importantly: the official price for the Core i9-9920X is $1,200, but because of the shortage in stores, they ask for much more for it. In turn, AMD 3950X is priced at $750. It turns out that by the very fact of the release of this processor, AMD has changed the rules of the game in the mass market, saying in plain text that we no longer need to be limited to 4 or 6 cores. Drop a $1,000 processor and motherboard for one of the most powerful gaming PCs ever. It remains to wait for the end of autumn 2019 and the start of official sales.
PS Also pay attention to its younger 12-core brother Ryzen 9 3900X, which is already on store shelves with a price tag of $600.
