Concentrate

— the term "concentrate" describes the degree of protein purification; commonly used for whey products (see Type) but other concentrates exist. Anyway, this is the least thorough degree of purification, carried out in the simplest way — usually with the help of membranes that trap protein molecules. Due to the simplicity of the technology, the product is inexpensive and as affordable as possible. Many people think that concentrates only make sense if there is no alternative, but this is not entirely true: the amount of protein in advanced varieties can exceed 80%, and such brands of proteins are comparable to protein isolates (see the relevant paragraph). But the unequivocal disadvantage of concentrates can be called an increased content of impurities — for example, lactose in the same whey protein.
