Such burners look like "pancakes" protruding from the working surface. They have significant thermal inertia: they slowly heat up and cool down and respond with a delay to changes in heating power. In addition, the solid plate can become uneven over time, and it will have to be changed. On the other hand, such heaters are as simple and inexpensive as possible, they are not afraid of shocks, and the described shortcomings are generally not critical. So for some users, cast iron burners are the best choice.
