A musician's own microphone can be useful both for traditional singing, without voice processing, and for other tasks — processing the same voice using a vocoder (see "Functions / Capabilities") or other effects, recording sound samples (see "sampling") etc. At the same time, the signal from the microphone can be both played back on the instrument and transmitted to an amplifier with acoustics through the appropriate connector (see "Outputs"), and in some models it can also be recorded. Inputs of this type use different types of connectors, so compatibility with a specific microphone needs to be specified separately.
