Acoustic guitars with equalizer
Equalizer
— a feature found on many guitars with pickups (see the relevant paragraph); it doesn't make sense without a pickup. The purpose of an equalizer is to boost or cut certain frequencies, thereby changing the colour of the sound in the audio signal coming from the guitar. For example, for dynamic accompaniment on chords, a musician can emphasize the bass, giving the sound extra saturation, and for a solo part, even out the frequencies. The capabilities of built-in equalizers are usually quite modest — for example, the number of frequency bands usually does not exceed 3. However, this cannot be called a disadvantage — more complex devices would come out expensive and bulky, and fine tuning of the sound is easier to make on external equipment.
