Paracord
Paracord
— paracord is a lightweight and at the same time durable cord (usually nylon), originally used for the manufacture of parachute lines. There are several types of paracord; the most popular nowadays is type III, aka “550 cord”, which has a tensile strength of about 240 kg.We emphasize that it is not recommended to use paracord in climbing equipment — its properties do not meet the requirements for ropes and cables for such an application. However, such cords can be very useful for "general tourism" tasks — for example, for attaching equipment, setting up tents and awnings, etc. fishing line, etc. and an elastic sheath — for example, as shoelaces.
Also note that paracord is quite popular as a material for "tactical" bracelets and as a handle winding in some types of knives, axes, etc. In addition to aesthetic, this design also gives quite practical advantages: the supply of the cord is always with you, and handles made of such material are quite comfortable and reliable when held.
