A deck is a part of the body that directly covers the knives; during operation, it is subjected to significant loads and severe pollution. Such a part can be made of inexpensive and lightweight plastic, but metal is much stronger, more reliable and durable. The main disadvantage of metal decks is the high cost, especially if aluminium alloy is used as the material. Steel decks, on the other hand, are cheaper, but heavier and may require additional maintenance to prevent corrosion.
