— the most advanced type found in modern power tools is the lithium-ion battery. These batteries have good capacity in a compact and lightweight form, are free from the memory effect, and require relatively little time to charge. Their main drawback is the high cost; additionally, such batteries are quite sensitive to overheating and overcooling. In the event of a serious disruption in the charge-discharge cycle (e.g., due to a power controller failure), there can be significant overheating and even a fire.
