One of the most popular options for such a device is a strong lace with a suction cup or adhesive platform; if the main mount fails (for example, due to a factory defect, installation negligence, or "old age"), the camera hangs on the insurance. This feature is especially useful at high speeds, when used on water, in rock climbing and other situations where it would be extremely difficult to find a camera that has been dropped from its mount. Of course, such insurance is not absolute, but anyway it reduces the risk of losing the camera.
