A medium-sized 2.5-inch secure external hard drive from Transcend's StoreJet 25H3 HDD family, which includes three units in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. Equipped with proprietary impact protection that meets the stringent US military standard MIL-STD-810G 516.6. The three-component damping complex consists of a rubberized silicone shell, an internal shock-absorbing drive suspension and a durable plastic housing.
Such protection provides a high level of information security on the drive, and guarantees its integrity when dropped onto a hard surface from a height of 1 m. Quiet and reliable HDD. It has been running for almost 2 years. Most of the time, it's connected to a laptop in "improvised desktop" mode but has proven itself well on trips and outings - it handles falls wonderfully (I didn't throw it on purpose, but it has flown in a backpack or on the table from a height of about 30cm), and even while working, it withstands jolts and other things that can kill an HDD (I watched movies on the plane and tapped on the table during active work with files on the HDD). I'm very pleased with it; it's compact and reliable. In almost 2 years of active use, it hasn't slowed down, and there are few bad sectors. To those complaining about the non-standard connector, thickness, etc. - folks, the analog with type-c costs twice as much! Of course, it would be nice if it had a simple and more common usb-c, but remember the price. (And the competitor is even larger in all dimensions lol). Or, if you're not happy with the size, you can take it out of the case and get the most standard external HDD. Mediocre branded utilities - the idea is good, but the implementation could be better (although respect for the one-click backup feature). The rubber collects dust and dirt well, making it difficult to clean. (This can be solved by removing the case, but then the "protection" of the external drive is lost.) I have been using almost the same external drive 1 TB USB 2.0 since 2012. There were no problems. I have never used the additional connector on the cord; there is enough power from both the laptop and the desktop computer. There is a connector on the case for a miniUSB lanyard, the lanyard fits tightly, and has not become loose over these 4 years of use. It works quietly, almost inaudibly, the copying speed is as it should be for USB 2.0, about 30-20 kb/sec. Until now there is not a single bad thing on the disk, although I have never dropped it.
