Model overview based on user reviews
The Seagate IronWolf IronWolf series is highly regarded for its affordable pricing, quiet operation, and impressive speed. Users appreciate its suitability for NAS systems, with many highlighting its low noise levels even under continuous operation. The drives are praised for their large storage capacities, ranging from 1TB to 16TB, making them ideal for both personal and professional use. Some users noted minor noise issues, particularly at night, but these are generally considered manageable. A few reviews mentioned packaging concerns and isolated cases of defective units, but overall, the series is seen as reliable and efficient. The drives maintain cool temperatures and offer good performance, with some users experiencing speeds higher than advertised. Overall, the Seagate IronWolf IronWolf series is recommended for those needing robust storage solutions with excellent value for money.

I bought a Seagate IronWolf ST3000VN007 3Tb to replace two WD Green 2 Tb drives (for reference, the WD drives don't give more than 90-100 MB/s when reading) that have worked for 9 years. Overall, I'm satisfied with everything; it's quiet and cool, reasonably priced, makes a slight clicking sound when turning on, but then remains silent, and hasn't heated above 34 degrees even in hot weather, although a fan blows on it in an open system case at minimal speed. Reading speed is 190-180, writing speed is 80 and above (depends on file size). For fun, I installed Windows on it, and it works better than on the WD Green; there are no slowdowns or freezes when copying and opening a browser or video encoder simultaneously.
P.S. I'm actually surprised why the 2 Tb versions are more expensive; basically, it's the same thing with less capacity.
method of writing CMR on the entire IronWolf + NAS series, I hope they added 3 letters for a reason =)

It's too early to talk about reliability, time will tell. I'll update the review if so.
-Good speeds, around 170MB/s for read/write. The wd Red 2TB has worse performance.
-Doesn't heat up. In 33-degree heat, the drive maintains 43 degrees while working.
-Quiet, no vibrations. I haven't even fixed it in place, just placed it at the bottom of the case for now.

For those who need a lot of space, hdd is a good option. For everyone else, SSD will help.

I fell for a lot of reviews about silence and bought a 2 GB model, in fact the unit turned out to be very noisy, well, for me personally. In silence, you can hear buzzing, dull humming, chirping, etc. from 2 meters away. It also constantly turns on and off, and this is especially noisy. I had to buy a soundproof box, but even in it the operation of the unit is a little audible. Apparently people have a problem with their hearing, or are these marketer provocateurs writing about silence.
Possibly a reliable unit according to reviews...
1. Packaging. It's like a candy wrapper; many products in stores are packaged much better.
2. Noise, probably all the hard drives make noise..., haven't changed them in 11 years.
