Synology DiskStation DS220 Plus Home Network Storage is a convenient solution for backing up data and storing large media collections of files that can be accessed from different devices.
Standard Form Factor
The model is assembled in a case with a metal power frame and plastic walls. At the same time, the front panel is made removable — from the “facade” side, HDD drives are installed or removed in an amount of up to two copies in one sitting. The corresponding slots accommodate 3.5-inch media and 2.5-inch drives. A quiet fan is installed on the rear, there are two aggregated LAN connectors (1 Gbps) and a USB 3.0 port. The second USB-output is located in front, near it there is also a button for quick copying data from an external drive. The basis of the engine compartment filling of the model is a dual-core Intel Celeron J4025 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The system board has a free slot for a second RAM module (up to 4 GB).
Advanced functionality
You can access the NAS server control panel through the web interface from any browser. When accessing the Internet, the device will automatically download and install the DSM operating system from the official Synology server. Its capabilities are truly inexhaustible — network storage allows you to deploy an advanced multimedia server, can download files from torrents to your computer, and, in principle, has a large library of compatible applications for all occasions.
Reliable storage
There are many different utilities available in the app store for backing up and storing data. Synology also offers users its cloud resources for remote data backup, but already on a paid basis. Synology DiskStation DS220 Plus performs equally well as an FTP or DLNA server, writes video from IP surveillance cameras, and supports data encryption. And most importantly, it provides reliable backup and storage of user information.
