Model overview based on user reviews
The MikroTik hAP ac2 router is highly praised for its stability and performance, making it a top choice for system administrators and tech-savvy users. It offers a wide range of settings and supports connections with 3G, 4G modems, or HDDs, alongside a full-featured RouterOS on Linux. Users appreciate its compact and stylish design, as well as its ability to handle gigabit speeds efficiently. However, the router's Wi-Fi performance is often criticized, with many suggesting the need for additional access points for better coverage. The setup process is noted to be complex, requiring good administration skills, which might not be suitable for beginners. Despite these challenges, the router is considered a great investment for those familiar with network configurations, offering flexibility and reliability akin to higher-end models at a more affordable price.

MikroTik are great routers but not for everyone.

Great router with shameful WiFi. It seems to me that it makes sense to use something like MikroTik hEX RB750Gr3 https://ek.ua/MIKROTIK-HEX-RB750GR3.htm with a separate AP paired.
Excellent highly customizable router. Stable. Spent a couple of exciting (without irony) evenings configuring the router for myself (vlans, dnat, vpn tunnels including proton)
It's strange to see such bad WiFi. The full impression is that it was added for show on the residual principle. I was surprised by the lack of ddns clients. I had to solve the problem with scripts.
great model, love it

Not for 95% of users. It's better to buy a Kinetic or TP-Link. Otherwise, there are two options:
1. You'll end up telling everyone that MikroTik is cr**.
2. MikroTik will draw you in, and there will be no turning back.
A monster in terms of functionality and performance. Gigabit ports, 4 cores, 128MB of RAM, and hardware IPSEC can more than adequately meet the needs of gamers, torrent users, and small to medium-sized businesses.
They're not a problem if you're familiar with the specifics of this equipment. If you don't know what a route, DNS, DHCP, Firewall, NAT are, and you need a box that you plug into the network and then just click "Next-Next-Next-Congratulations, you have internet!", then buy a Kinetic, TP-Link, or some other four-to-eight antenna home router, stylish and impressive. If you are more or less knowledgeable about networking technologies and need the functionality and reliability of Cisco but have a D-Link budget, go for Mikrotik.

A good router for geeks, fans of this company. Or stock up on valerian...

For that amount of money, it's better to get a keenetic.
Lots of settings, a lot. Quite stable after setup.
Price, setting is very difficult for an uninitiated person. Even for an initiated person, Mikrotik is a separate world where you need to have good administration skills. For example, knowing the router’s gateway, it’s not a fact that you’ll just jump into the router’s settings, no, at first you have to suffer, and then maybe... Mikrotik has a very weak wi-fi module, almost all models do. I will say this, avoid routers whose antennas are (all) hidden in the case...

"Latvian" MikroTik hAP ac² is included in a small cohort of brand routers for home use. Having settled in an apartment, the device distributes the Internet to the “clientele” both via a wireless network and over a twisted pair cable, providing a consistently high flow rate and a large coverage radius.

Decent speed

The model is assembled in an unremarkable "body" without protruding elements — the antennas are hidden inside the body of the wireless router. The device uses dual-band combined antennas. At the rear of the router are four gigabit LAN ports and one WAN with PoE power support. In wireless networks, the hAP ac² delivers a decent maximum speed of 300 Mbps (at 2.4 GHz) and 867 Mbps (at 5 GHz).

Flexible configuration

The device is powered by a performant "quad-core" Qualcomm IPQ4018 with a clock frequency of 716 MHz and a volume of "RAM" 128 MB. The conductor of the technological orchestra of the model is the Router OS system with flexible configuration options. One has only to take into account that for an ordinary user, the system menu interface may seem too complicated and confusing.

Favorite

The router can be parked vertically or lying down. Standing on a stand made of transparent plastic, on the top end of the device you can see a USB 2.0 port for connecting a 3G / LTE modem or deploying an FTP server using a router. The model can also work in bridge and repeater modes. MikroTik hAP ac² is rightfully considered a favorite in the segment of affordable low-cost wireless routers for home use or "registration" in a small office.
