The ability to reach 6 GHz is provided by Thermal Velocity Boost technology, previously used in a special variant of the Core i9-13900KS.
The frequencies for P-core max are increased by 200 Hz to 5.6 GHz, as well as by 100 MHz for E-core max. The base frequencies for P-core and E-core have been increased by 200 MHz compared to the previous generation.

Representatives of this series belong to the upper price segment and are primarily aimed at owners of workstations for processing multimedia content, audio, video and graphic rendering, engineering calculations, compilation, etc.

Compared to the 13th generation Core i9 processors, Raptor Lake Refresh models offer improvements in clock speeds and support for modern technologies, while maintaining the core characteristics of the previous generation. The main improvements of the Core i9-14900K compared to the previous i9-13900K model are the increase in clock speeds.

The clock speed of P-cores is increased by 200 MHz, and E-cores by 100 MHz. This provides a performance increase of 5-10% in various tasks. The technical characteristics of the Core i9-14900K are as follows: 8 high-performance cores and 16 energy-efficient cores give a total of 32 threads, P-cores can be overclocked to 5.6 GHz, while E-cores can be overclocked to 4.4 GHz. The cache memory is 36 MB L3.

The maximum heat dissipation (TDP) is 125 W, and the maximum power in turbo mode reaches 253 W. In gaming, the Core i9 Raptor Lake Refresh chips perform well, but sometimes fall short of cheaper models like the Core i7-14700K, especially in some tests. This is due to the optimization of games for fewer cores and higher clock speeds per core. Plus, Core i9 Raptor Lake Refresh processors support the same PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 interfaces, as well as other connectivity options, as previous models. And the connection uses the same LGA 1700 socket as in previous generations, so you don’t have to buy a new motherboard for a new processor.
