Sony over-ear headphones are the flagship solution of 2025. This model can be recommended for discerning users and fans of premium sound quality. Compared to its predecessor, the WH-1000XM5, the return of the foldable design provides added convenience for transportation and storage. Other notable features include combined connectivity — both wireless (via Bluetooth v5.3) and wired (with a mini-jack socket and a detachable 1.2-meter cable included).
The Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones support adaptive noise cancellation based on proprietary smart algorithms, advanced codecs including LDAC and LC3, and Hi-Res Audio and DSEE-Extreme premium sound technologies. The built-in microphone also integrates ENC functionality, allowing better audibility for conversations in noisy environments — such as busy streets or crowded offices.
Besides touch controls, the model can interact with voice assistants — Apple Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa. Users can expect long-lasting autonomy — up to 30 to 40 hours of listening time or up to 24 hours of talk time, with the subsequent charging cycle via USB-C taking 3.5 hours. Additionally, the package includes a case, leatherette ear cushions, and three color variations — black, dark blue, or platinum silver (close to white).
