Kitchen aprons

Kitchen aprons

— a splashback or wall area between the countertop and wall cabinets, which protects the surface from water, grease, and steam while also setting the appearance of the work area. It is made from tiles, glass, laminated panels (MDF/particle board), acrylic, stainless steel, or artificial stone: the difference lies in how easily dirt is cleaned off, how noticeable scratches are, and how well the material handles constant moisture and heat near the cooking surface. Compared to a simply painted wall or wallpaper, a kitchen splashback is more practical and durable. In comparison with tiles, glass and panel options usually excel in quick installation and minimal seams (fewer areas where residue accumulates), but they require careful handling to avoid damage from impacts. Usage examples: placing a splashback by the sink to prevent water from eroding the wall, covering the stove area to protect from oil splatters, integrating outlets and lighting in the work area, or matching the splashback to the countertop to give the kitchen a cohesive look.
