Most partitions are designed to organize offices in the open space style and are designed to be installed between two tables, set "face to face" — so that the users sitting at them do not see each other's workspace. There are also products designed for free-standing tables; some of them are even able to turn the table into an impromptu reception desk (see "reception") — a small shelf is provided for this in the upper part of the partition. Both of these varieties can have different overall heights: some models cover only the space above the countertop, others reach almost to the floor.
