2M

— a variety of second-class lasers, which has a large beam thickness or a strong divergence. The safety features are broadly similar: the blink reflex can protect the eye when exposed to the beam, but prolonged exposure can cause eye damage. At the same time, class 2M does not allow the use of optical instruments for observations inside the beam (unlike the "pure" second one).
