A mandatory element of the design is a mechanism for leveling the horizon (at least a level, and in advanced versions — a self-leveling system), which allows you to display accurate horizontal and sometimes vertical planes. There may be several planes themselves, depending on the model. Most laser levels have a short range and are designed to work indoors rather than outdoors, but there are also quite "long-range" tools. Note that working with a laser requires caution.
