Headphone amplifiers with 6.35 mm input

Jack (6.35 mm)

— a full-size analog of the mini-Jack 3.5 mm interface (see the corresponding section), used in a similar way — for connecting analog audio signals. It is relatively bulky, which is why it is mainly installed in stationary amplifiers (see "Type"), although there are also portable models with such inputs. On the other hand, the larger size provides a more reliable and interference-resistant connection than the mini-Jack; this is one of the reasons why the full-size Jack is considered more preferable for high-end audio equipment.

The second reason is that 6.35 mm inputs can be used for both standard connections (in the format "both stereo channels on one connector") and for balanced connections. For more details on such connections, see the "XLR" section (in this same list), but here we note that it is excellent for professional use, although it requires a separate connector for each sound channel. Therefore, support for balanced connections is not mandatory for amplifiers with Jack-type inputs, and this capability should be clarified separately.
