16 ohms is one of the standard impedances found in modern consumer-grade headphones. It is rather low both in general and by the standards of this class of “ears”, and therefore is used somewhat less frequently than 32 ohms. On the other hand, these headphones have very limited requirements for amplifiers, so they are still quite popular.
Note that not every external amplifier is capable of operating with low resistances; and if the headphone impedance is too low, overload and damage to the equipment are possible. Therefore, you can connect 16-ohm ears only to models from this category — that is, to those where such a possibility is directly stated. At the same time, such models, usually, are able to work with higher impedances — at least the standard 32 ohms, and often much higher.
