— a variety of ceramic (see the relevant paragraph) is a high quality material used mainly in fairly expensive pottery designed with an emphasis on attractive appearance. Classical porcelain is translucent, with a light blow it emits a clear sonorous sound, and the glazed surface is usually also covered with painting. In addition to aesthetic advantages, porcelain also has practical ones: it does not darken over time and is easily washed from dirt.
