Typically, a 90° turn is provided, but the possibility of fastening at a sharper angle may be provided; the sharper the angle, the thinner the layer of earth removed upon impact. This function is useful primarily on dense hard soils, where ordinary shovels do not fit well: they hit the ground with a hoe in a big way, which makes it possible to cope even with dense, dried clay and other similar surfaces.
