Amplifiers with optical input
Optical
— the presence in the design of the amplifier input for transmitting a digital audio signal via optical fibre (TOSLINK cable). This is a variant of the S/P-DIF standard, and its capabilities are similar to the coaxial version (see above): it supports multi-channel audio over a single cable. The advantage of the optical interface is complete insensitivity to electromagnetic interference; the disadvantage is the fragility of the cable, some restrictions on its length and a rather high cost.Show
