Balanced digital input (AES/EBU)
— the presence in the amplifier design of the input for operation with a balanced digital signal of the AES / EBU standard. This standard is considered professional and is relatively rare in consumer-level technology — in most amplifiers, the role of a digital input is usually played by its simplified counterpart, coaxial S / P-DIF, while the presence of AES / EBU indicates a high class device. Balanced connection, which has an increased degree of protection against interference and a minimum of restrictions on the length of the wire, is provided through the use of an XLR connector in this interface.
