Petzl's Rad Line is a radically ultralight, hyperstatic cord that assists skiers doing crevasse rescue work, roping up on glaciers, and traversing glacial terrain. Unlike most static ropes, the Rad Line uses less than 2% elongation to improve certain rescue scenarios. The rough-textured sheath improves handling and accommodates Petzl's Tibloc and Micro Traxion devices.

Sterling's flagship rope, the Velocity 9. 8 XEROS is an all-rounder hero. It has a smooth hand for clipping ease on redpoints and a soft catch when we blow a foot above our last placement. Treated inside and out, this rope resists both dirt and slippage.

The ultralight Zero Friend is optimized for modern climbing while staying true to Wild Country's original innovation. Wild Country slightly adapted the original camming angle (13. 75°) to create one of the narrowest heads on the market. Thanks to its skinny 9. 1 diameter, low weight, and advanced dry treatments, the Beal Joker Unicore Dry Cover Climbing Rope is as equally suited to difficult sport routes as it is to soaking-wet alpine excursions. The Unicore construction eliminates sheath slippage, and the Dry Cover sheath treatment guarantees a high level of water and humidity resistance.

The 9. 9 Climbing Rope is Black Diamond's thickest and most durable climbing rope, and it's still versatile for virtually any style of climb. This rope balances the burliness required for big-wall projects with the beginner-friendly handling that new climbers need at the gym. Its Endurance rope boasts hardcore durability against rocky edges, and there's a half mark for easily identifying the rope's center for rigging rappels.

Sharp edges are no stranger in alpine terrain, so when heading into the Uinta Mountains, we pack along the Starling Protect Pro Dry Climbing Rope. Edelrid's Protect technology provides a burly sheath without reducing the rope's dynamic properties, so we get superior cut resistance and still enjoy a soft catch.

We pack along the Pur Line Climbing Rope to lighten our load on multi-pitch routes. The rigid core gives us better control on the throw when getting ready to rap. Once at the bottom, we get a good grip on the rough-textured sheath to easily retrieve our rope.

Edelrid has succeeded in providing us with the first ever recycled climbing rope on the market, reusing ropes throughout the sheath and core of the Neo 3R Climbing Rope to give us the perfect marriage of safety and sustainability.
