The Salto Ski is one of La Sportiva's most versatile backcountry skis that you can ride on the highest summits or through trees near the mountain's base. Its nimble 92mm waist certainly rides firmer snow better than powder, but the rockered tip and tail help keep you afloat when the snow's softer and deeper than you expected. The Salto has plenty of camber for the precise edge control necessary for tight, steep chutes.

The Line Sakana Ski boasts the same design elements as the iconic Pescado but uses a narrower waist to create a directional, all-mountain ride designed to carve quick turns through groomers and provide a fun ride on and off-piste. The 105mm waist performs well in secret powder patches and rips on fresh corduroy. We’re big fans of the swallowtail design because it lets us release the tail of the ski into a smear or drift, whether in soft snow or our favorite groomers.

Whether we're surfing deep midwinter powder or scraping down the last bits of dirty spring snow, the Icelantic Saba Pro 107 Ski is keeping the ride energized. The tips' and tails' full rocker keep us riding high on a sea of white and evading crud's trip attempts, while the mid-fat waist hastens transitions turn to turn, and the sintered base armors the resilient core against the rocks and sticks spring melt exposes.

With the Ripstick 96 Black Edition Ski, Elan has jam packed a full big mountain ski into a traditional all-mountain shape. The combination of rocker and camber with a 96mm waist screams all mountain ski but the Tubelite wood core and carbon fiber layup remind us more of a big mountain charger. These features end up working harmoniously to provide a ski that can handle fresh snow or firm conditions and loves to be skied fast and on edge no matter what.

As big fans of the Ripstick, we’re very excited about the new Ripstick Black Edition Skis. Built around the chassis of the original model, the Black Edition still exists to prove that this powder ski can rip groomers as well as it floats through storm days, thanks to plenty of tip rocker and edge-specific camber profiles. The Black Edition introduces two additional carbon rods that shed weight in order to improve agility, and add torsional rigidity to make the ski, well—more rip-able. The balanced 106 waist is designed to do it all, and the ski’s shape is drawn from a big-mountain influence. The balanced rocker profile features camber underfoot, for a quick edge to edge transfer, only this c…

The Volkl Revolt 96 Ski is simply made to shred, no matter where we find some snow and something to play on. Built to be extremely durable with thick edges and a P-Tex 2100 base, these skis are made for seeking out stair railings around the neighborhood and kickers in the park. The beech and poplar core has plenty of pop to take our confidence to a whole new level. The 96mm waist width is ready to blast through most conditions, thriving on hard-packed corduroy but still exceptionally capable in deeper snow. The twin tip style has targeted flex so we have power and stability when we are ready to fly down the mountain.

Trusted by some of the best backcountry freestyle skiers in the world, the Volkl Revolt 121 Ski allows you to navigate deep snow in style. The 121mm waist teams up with a deep rocker profile to keep us afloat while carving, slashing, and stomping in deep snow, while the sandwich construction and camber underfoot ensure that we can hold an edge when we hit a windblown aspect. Meanwhile, the beech and poplar core does a good job of providing park-ski-like pop without making these skis prohibitably heavy.

The Revolt 121 Ski might be part of Volkl's freestyle collection, but it rebels against crowded terrain parks in search of more creative freestyle terrain found on big mountains. The cliffs up there are bigger, the snow is softer, and the fallen trees are begging to be jibbed. At 121mm, this ski is the widest Revolt that Volkl makes, so it's undeniably a powder hound, but the rockered tip and tail boast a tapered shape that butters, turns, and maneuvers through the deeps whether we're riding switch or not. The Revolt also boasts a multilayer wood core composed mostly of poplar for light, poppy feel, and denser beech wood that provides better binding retention overtime.

Like us, the Volkl Revolt 114 Ski hungers for steep and speed. The core's hard wood, the full-length sidewalls, the Mini Cap wrap at the tip and tail, and the sintered base resist beatings from the terrain, letting us go full throttle, while the 3D Radius Sidecut lets us go from sweeping to short swinging without slowing down or losing control.
