Skating skis

— all cross-country skis are designed to be ridden on a relatively flat, level surface. In skating, the skier alternately rides on one or the other leg, pushing off with the other leg, while the skis are at an angle, with their noses outward. Models for this movement have a slightly shorter length than classic running shoes (see the relevant paragraph), and can also be equipped with an edge for easy pushing off.
