Gone are the days where most backcountry skiers want a super-light setup that sacrifices downhill performance, instead, skiers op for the balance of skis like the Movement Go 98 Ti Ski. This ski balances uphill comfort with alpine-influenced downhill performance to help freetourers and freeriders alike ride the backcountry with confidence. The 98mm waist width and paulownia core create a light and nimble uphill feel that also feels stable and damp on the downhill. Meanwhile, the rocker and camber profile and stiff titanal laminates offers versatile control that used to be reserved for resort skis.

Built to not only get you to the top of backcountry lines but also get you down them with confidence, the Movement Alp Tracks 98 Ski is our choice for backcountry freeriding. As we first stride away from the parking lot, we can feel the lightweight paulownia core and carbon fiber laminates combining for a weightless feel that encourages long walks. When we drop into a line, we are inspired to ski hard and free by the ample early rise that provides float, the titanal laminates that offer power, and the tapered tip that cuts down on swing weight to encourage spinning.

The Movement Fly 95 Ski is a freestyle ski designed to help us fly over jumps, arc turns on groomers, and properly express ourselves anywhere on the hill. The 95mm waist provides quick edge to edge freestyle control, while the powerful camber underfoot helps us lock in an edge and pop huge ollies. We may not be artists in the conventional sense, but with the Movement Go 106 Ti Ski strapped to our feet, we can paint perfect lines all over the mountains. At 106mm underfoot, these skis are light and responsive, with enough meat to drop in on the biggest faces we can find. Reinforced with two titanal plates, we are given the confidence and control to react quickly as we cut across big mountain terrain. Updated this year with a paulownia wood core, the Go 106 is lighter than ever, so we can begin making plans for our most ambitious tours yet.

We prefer Movement's widest GO 115 Reverse Ti Ski when there's enough powder to make the big mountains even bigger than usual. It's certainly a powder plank that's powerful enough for steep spines, Alaskan cirques, and even a mellower tree ride when the avalanche conditions are a bit too risky for summits. Not only does it stay afloat in soft, deep powder, but it also is remarkably playful so you can maneuver around trees, rocks, and cliff drops a bit easier. Ti Power Plates work with vibration absorbing tech to keep chatter at bay when we really pick up the speed.
