In contrast to the rather expensive Gamemax RGB series PSUs, when developing the GX power supplies, the Chinese manufacturer Gamemax sought to find the optimal balance between price and quality, throwing everything unnecessary into the dustbin of history. So, a typical representative of the GX series is a classic ATX format PSU with modular wires, a serious set of protections and an overall efficiency of at least 90% (note: quality certificates - gold or platinum). GameMax GX Xtreme Gold power supplies are designed for installation in gaming systems and support connection to modern video cards with a TDP in the region of 350 - 500 W.
Inside, as a rule, heat-resistant Taiwanese capacitors, DC-DC converters, resonant LLC converters and an active PFC are installed, and in some cases a two-level electromagnetic filter is added to this list to suppress interference. The main 12-volt line is typically capable of providing nearly 100% of the unit's total power. The built-in security system has six levels of protection (OTP, OCP, SCP, OVP, UVP, OPP). Branded coolers with hydrodynamic bearings and an increased number of electric motor windings make little noise during active operation and can switch to a silent semi-passive operating mode.
In the spring of 2023, the Chinese manufacturer presented a completely new model in the GX series, codenamed Rampage, which was created with an eye on the spread of the ATX 3.0 format and the active introduction of the PCI-E 5.0 bus. This is far from the cheapest, purebred solution for enthusiasts who are planning to upgrade their gaming PC with a more powerful and modern NVIDIA GeForce 4000 series graphics card. As you've probably heard, for normal power supply they need a corresponding 12VPHWR connector capable of transmitting up to 600 W of energy. But the manufacturer did not stop there and at the same time presented to the public the platinum GX Rampage Pro models with a power reserve of up to 1300 W, created primarily to power power-hungry workstations.
