From a series called Elite, you expect something like everyone's favorite heat-resistant Japanese capacitors, address illumination or even an LED display for monitoring the temperature and speed of rotation of the blades. But no, representatives of this series belong more to the primary class, which is usually bought when there is no extra money, but at the same time you do not want to put unreliable Chinese junk for $ 20 in the case.
These are relatively simple, affordable and, most importantly, reliable power supplies with an efficiency of 80 Plus. Despite the fact that the manufacturer decided to save on a bronze certificate, modern Elite models have an efficiency of around 85%, which can be considered an excellent result. The old versions of Elite had an efficiency of about 75% and do not look so interesting against their background. It is also worth noting the presence of active power factor correction, which reduces the number of harmonics, adjusts the incoming voltage and generally reduces energy losses.
The most interesting option in this line is the Elite 4 power supply released in 2020. It has been designed to provide reliability with an emphasis on reducing accidental disconnections in conditions where power supplies and incoming voltage are unstable and the ambient temperature is far from the perfect 20 degrees Celsius.
Plus, Elite 4 is able to output an additional 50 watts on the main line for 10 seconds before switching off ― in case of surges or overloads, the system will have time to save the necessary data and finish the work processes. The presence of a quiet fan, a basic 80+ certificate and a three-year warranty make the Elite 4 a very interesting solution for a low-cost build.
