Sights with cross and dot reticle
Cross with dot
— a reticle in the form of a crosshair of two lines (usually quite thin), at the intersection of which a clearly visible dot is applied. It is in this form, usually, that is used in red dot and other types of sights. In the first case, such a mark is actually a slightly modified version of a regular cross (see the relevant paragraph). And in optics, the presence of a dot allows to additionally highlight the crosshairs, which is convenient in some situations; the general purpose of such sights is, of course, hunting.Separately, we note that for optical sights the “cross with dot” option is indicated only if the dot is applied as part of the markings and is constantly visible. If the dot is luminous and can be turned off, then it is indicated in the characteristics as a separate type of mark, in addition to a cross or other similar reticle (duplex, half-cross, etc.).
