Optical sights with rangefinder
— in this case, a rangefinder means a separate device (usually a laser) with which the design of the sight is supplemented; special scales, including specialized, do not count as a rangefinder. Accurate determination of the distance is extremely important for sniper shooting, and modern rangefinders allow it to be determined with an accuracy of several centimeters; however, the most advanced scopes can even automatically calculate the actual point of impact. However, such equipment increases the weight and dimensions of the sight, is expensive and requires power; in addition, in some situations, the laser can unmask the arrow (the beam is not visible to the naked eye, but it is perfectly visible through special devices). Therefore, built-in rangefinders are mainly equipped with high-end models for hunters and long-range sports shooters, and there are few such models, mainly because of the mentioned cost.
