The main purpose of car kits is the same as conventional headsets — to free your hands when talking on the phone; however, there are no headphones in the design — the sound is output either through the car kit's speaker or through the car's speaker system. The most advanced models may have a display to show the incoming call number, talk time, etc. In addition, the functions of car kits often include voice control and the sounding of various notifications — this further increases the safety behind the wheel.
