A2DP profile

— a technology that allows stereo audio to be transmitted over a Bluetooth connection. The specific purpose of this feature depends on the type of device (see "Device"). So, in classic Bluetooth headsets for one ear, A2DP is necessary so that the device can normally receive sound that was originally recorded in stereo format (for example, podcasts or audio books). Support of this profile is especially important for headsets with a headphone output (see the relevant paragraph). In turn, in other Bluetooth accessories, A2DP can be used both for similar purposes and for full-fledged stereo sound reproduction: some speakerphones have their own stereo speakers, and car kits may provide connection to a car radio or standard acoustics.

Anyway, to use A2DP, it must be provided in both the accessory and the main device. Therefore, if you, for example, are looking for a headset for a simple phone that does not have A2DP, you can choose a model without this feature.
