— wi-Fi standard using an operating frequency of 60 GHz; data transfer rates can be up to 10 Gbps (depending on the specific version of WiGig).

The 60 GHz channel is much less loaded than the more popular 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, which has a positive effect on the reliability of data transmission and reduces latency; the latter is especially important in games and some other special tasks. On the other hand, an increase in frequency has significantly reduced the connection range — even in open space it does not exceed 10 m, and WiGig is not designed to work through walls at all. In other words, in fact, this standard is only suitable for communication within the same room or in similar conditions. Thus, many modern WiGig devices support only this range and are highly specialized equipment designed to build wireless "bridges" between networks or parts of the same network (for more details, see "Software Features — Bridge Mode"). However, this version of Wi-Fi is also found in consumer gadgets such as smartphones, so a more traditional application is quite possible.
