— floor-standing subwoofers have a separate enclosure that allows them to be placed directly on the floor. As a result, they are easy to install, and if you need to adjust for optimal sound, such a device can be almost freely moved around the room. This type includes the vast majority of modern subwoofers.

Note that we are talking specifically about installation on the floor — such models, usually, are not suitable for placement on shelves in terms of acoustic properties.
