MFP with Wi-Fi Direct
Wi-Fi Direct
— a feature found in models with built-in Wi-Fi modules (see the relevant paragraph). Direct support allows you to connect other Wi-Fi devices (laptops, smartphones, cameras, etc.) to such an MFP directly, without using a router and a local network. This can be especially convenient if there is no network equipment, or if it needs to be additionally configured. Using Wi-Fi Direct, you can at least send documents for printing, as well as receive scanned materials from the MFP; and in some cases (for example, when connected to a laptop), such a connection allows you to fully replace the wired connection and makes it possible to control various settings of the MFP.Note that similar capabilities are provided by Bluetooth (see the relevant paragraph). However, Wi-Fi Direct provides a more reliable connection and is better suited for transferring large amounts of data. In addition, this standard is better suited for direct printing from cameras — Wi-Fi is traditionally used for wireless communication in this devices.
