The main difference is that the light for the operation of the drum is provided not by a laser element, but by a series of LEDs. This allows you to somewhat reduce the cost of the devices themselves, while maintaining the main advantages of laser printing — high quality and low cost of black and white prints, which is important for working with business documents. However, there are also colour models with the LED principle of operation — however, like laser ones, they are only suitable for relatively simple colour printing and cannot be used for photos.
