— the compact keyboard differs from the full-size one in the absence of a numeric keypad on the right side; in other words, it looks as if the Numpad has been separated from the full-size model. The remaining keys are present and are in their places (this is the difference from ultra-compact solutions). The advantages of compact models are quite obvious: having a small size, they at the same time retain all the main features of the keyboards. On the other hand, the features associated with the Numpad – for example, inserting characters via Alt+[number code] – are either not available at all on such devices, or are not implemented very conveniently. So it makes sense to pay attention to this option when portability and ease of transportation are more important than functionality – for example, if you plan to often type texts while traveling.
Note that if desired, the compact keyboard can be supplemented with a separate Numpad (see "Num-keyboard").
