— the Clutch has a bow tie or figure eight look with pointed corners. A hardware with a Clutch head is widely used in the automotive industry, often found in passenger cars of the General Motors concern. In addition, Clutch is used by many manufacturers of buses, mobile homes and campers.

There are two types of Clutch splines: Type A and Type G. Type A splines have a recess in the centre of the fastener head. The Clutch Type G slotted hardware does not have a central recess.
