One of the key advantages of the WD My Cloud Home NAS server is the ability to quickly automatically back up with support for Time Machine on macOS and Windows Backup. The remote access function allows you to view and download files from anywhere in the world through the proprietary My Cloud Home application. My Cloud Home supports multimedia functions, allowing you to stream music and video to compatible devices with Sonos, Google Chromecast and Plex Media Server.

For ease of working with data, additional sorting and search options are provided, allowing you to quickly find the files you need and create albums/folders for more accurate file organization. External connection options are represented by a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port for connecting external drives, photo and video cameras, as well as a gigabit LAN port for direct connection to the network. The device is controlled using a proprietary web interface.
